ICx Technologies Awarded Multi-Year Contract for Specialty Radar System for Robots
WASHINGTON (Mar. 18, 2008) – ICx Technologies (ICXT: NASDAQ), a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection and commercial applications, announced today that it has secured from General Dynamics Robotic Systems a multi-year, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) follow-on contract for the Mobile Detection Assessment and Response System (MDARS) Intruder Detection Radar Sensor.
MDARS, a program of the Army’s JPEO-CBD – PM Force Protection Systems, is a nimble robotic patrol force on wheels, designed to perform random patrols around Department of Defense warehouses, airfields, ammunition supply depots, and port facilities. It detects intruders and determines the status of inventory, barriers, and locks.
The high-performance radar will be based on ICx Technologies’ industry-leading high resolution STS-350 radar, but will have the added ability to scan at a higher angle with further range. The initial award is for five systems, with additional quantities in the out years.
“We are pleased to be able to provide this mission-critical radar for MDARS,” said Pierre Poitevin, President ICx Radar Systems. “We’ve partnered with General Dynamics Robotic Systems on this project for quite some time now, and we continue to upgrade our products to fit our customer’s mission and needs.”
ICx manufactures the most sensitive ground-based security radars, with the unique ability to detect slow moving, and crawling targets in a variety of environments. ICx also provides thermal cameras, video C2 and analytic software, and complete, integrated systems. It is also well known for its SkyWatch and Cerberus Towers, which can be outfitted with all the above to provide a complete wide-area-surveillance or perimeter solution.
