ICx Technologies Sells its 1,000th Thermal-Imaging Camera and Introduces New Continuous-Zoom Camera
Devices are on duty in Iraq, at Hoover Dam and the Statue of Liberty
WASHINGTON (Mar. 25, 2008) – ICx Technologies (NASDAQ:ICXT), a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection and commercial applications, announced today that it has sold its 1,000th thermal-imaging camera, including more than 800 of its popular DefendIR pan-and-tilt cameras.
The cameras provide security all over the world—serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq, overseeing Hoover Dam and the Statue of Liberty, and guarding several nuclear power plants, including Turkey Point and Prairie Island.
The DefendIR has two heads — one is a “visible” video camera and the other is a thermal camera. This dual-head is critical because thermal cameras cannot see through, for example, glass. With the DefendIR’s Vision Sense technology, the thermal and visible images may be overlaid, giving the operator the most information available from both cameras. ICx also created VisionIR, which is a low-cost, high-quality camera equipped with an extremely low
f-stop (0.8) that allows more light, or in the case of a thermal camera, more energy into the camera providing a higher quality image.
ICx is the security partner of choice because it provides high-performing cameras that are:
• Easy to integrate with existing security equipment using only four screws and a cable;
• Less risky for integrators to employ, while providing a proven and complete package of imaging, radar and analytics, which, together with ICx’ high-resolution radars, offers unparalleled slew-to-cue capability;
• Inexpensive (from $16,000 to $75,000 depending on range performance); and
• ICx is known for its superior service, with a 24/7 hotline and turnaround service of less than 10 days.
“We are thrilled with the reception all our cameras have received,” said Nirav Pandya, CEO of ICx Imaging Systems. “Building on our experience, we just expanded our product family with a continuous-zoom iteration on the DefendIR that will provide a snap-and-click focus, making it that much more valuable to any operation’s security because the focus will not be lost as the operator zooms in for a closer look. Similar to earlier versions and our long-range cooled camera, our DefendIR CZ may also be linked into our industry-leading, slew-to-cue radar/imaging surveillance solution,” continued Pandya, “and it is the first continuous-zoom camera for the commercial security market.”
The DefendIR CZ will debut at ISC West, held from April 2 – 4 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. Visit ICx at booth 17087.
