ICx to Ship Mobile Surveillance Systems to U.S. Southern Border
ICx Technologies will ship out several mobile surveillance system units for border protection on the U.S.'s southern border as part of a $4 million contract.
The Arlington-based company, a developer and integrator of advanced sensor technologies, will provide six of its mobile Cerberus units that use sensor, thermal and imaging cameras and radar technologies to identify and track potential intruders.
"Border Patrol agents face tough challenges in making our borders safer," said Adam Strange, president of ICx Tactical Platforms. "Technology, deployed well, can play an important part in assisting our agents in making that happen. We are glad to be an integral part of Customs and Border Patrol's focus, and of being the first to provide them with a working solution to this important challenge."
Earlier this month, ICx won a $14 million contract from the Army to deploy 22 of their Cerberus units for bases in Iraq and Afghanistan.
ICX Technologies (NASDAQ:ICXT) went public in November 2007 and reported profits of $15.9 million at the end of this year's first quarter, up 37 percent from a year earlier.
