The Fido® PaxPoint™ from ICx Technologies is a handheld, portable liquid screening system capable of detecting liquids used in making explosive devices. The instrument, which weighs roughly three pounds, is capable of quickly screening passengers, baggage, sealed containers and bottles for potential threats. The Fido PaxPoint provides acute sensitivity in a rugged device suitable for sustained use in a deployed environment. Detection is performed in real time with results presented on a display screen. In contrast to other detectors, the Fido PaxPoint can detect specific liquid threats used in homemade explosive devices through both clear and opaque containers.
The Fido PaxPoint was designed to quickly screen passengers and baggage for a variety of liquid threats. Operation of the Fido PaxPoint is straightforward, requires little training and is ready to use within two minutes of being powered on. Once an operator receives a positive detection result, the Fido PaxPoint will recover rapidly in order to continue further screening operations.
