ClearPoint™
Bottled Liquid Screener
Fido® ClearPoint is a desktop implementation of the GSA-listed Fido Verdict™ ruggedized, palm-sized, Raman spectroscopy scanner for rapidly identifying suspicious liquids, solids, and powdered materials.
By incorporating a radically different sampling approach and user software written from the ground up to support bottled liquid screening, Fido ClearPoint significantly improves operator efficiency and reduces the possibility of operator error. Additionally, proprietary signal analysis algorithms minimize the impact of fluorescence and noise in acquired Raman spectra to reduce false alarm rates below the level obtainable by standard correlation analysis.
The Fido Verdict handheld was designed to enable security, military, and law enforcement officers to easily screen suspicious items at any location. With a sample analysis time of 10-30 seconds, it is able to identify common powders, narcotics, explosives, toxic industrial chemicals (TICs), and chemical warfare agents (CWAs). The Fido ClearPoint desktop bottled liquid scanner provides similar convenience and speed for screening bottled liquids with enhanced matching algorithms, application-specific libraries, a checkpoint-optimized sampling approach, and a tailored user interface—while eliminating the need for personal protective equipment. The system's user software is touch-screen driven.
Placing bottles in the system is facilitated by an optical geometry and open bottle support plate that automatically accepts a wide variety of bottle sizes, shapes, and labeling challenges; it accommodates round, square, or oddly shaped bottles placed upright or on their sides, in a wide range of sizes, and without user adjustment. Building on the Fido pedigree of highly sensitive detection systems, ClearPoint uses the well-established technique of Raman spectroscopy to identify unknown materials directly through sealed containers. This identification method minimizes sample handling and eliminates consumables.
